Have you dropped your skink?

With owning my first skink comes the scenarios we dont particularly want happening, one of those being a squirming lizard that ended up jumping out of my hands onto the floor. Guy was a little surprised but overall no worse for wear. Being 8 months now he is nice and solid, but i feel so so incredibly awful when situations like this end up happening.
I wanted to know if any of you have experienced a similar scenario? Any kind of height fearless skink or just a case of butter fingers? Sliding off surfaces? How often would something like this happen?

I have one male northern going on six months now that is absolutely fearless. He actually pulled out a vent in his enclosure (they're now all siliconed in), climbed through it and hit the floor. No worse for the wear, this happened a few months ago. Went absolutely nuts for the first half hour when I came home from work and noticed the vent out and him gone...thank God I found him under the couch. And of course it was one of my treasured Sunrise X Reds that I had just purchased two months before....He is a little pain in the butt, very curious and simply afraid of nothing. I have others that will walk to the end of a table, look down, and say, hmmm, that doesn't look like a good idea...and just go back to walking around the table. This one is just a cliff-diver, and I have to watch him like a hawk if he is out and about. Even when I open his cage he is looking to jump out, so absolutely no leaving the door open while I change the water...

Have I dropped my skinks? No... Have I 'dropped' my bearded dragon... Countless times...

I think I can hold onto my legged snakes better cause I'm not being stabbed with spikes every time they thrash about.

Dropped no , not a pet lizard, I've had pet BTs, water skinks and beardies all crawl off me and suddenly decide to floor looks interesting and be off the lounge and on the carpet before I can reach over and help them down to the floor.

I did drop a very large wild water skink by accident once (he was a huge specimen about 15 inches long and the local alpha male) , who had decided the clear plastic strawberry punnet I'd saved and converted to a lizard feeding station looked like a great place to curl up and get some safe sun.
I picked it up to put some new frozen mealworms and pet lizard left overs in and we both got a surprise , he leapt out and landed headfirst against the corner of brick and took a piece out of head scales and dashed off not be seen for a week , but was back and not so keen on crawling into the converted punnets after than, but was still begging me for worms everytime I saw him at his regular haunts , with a nasty wound on his head that took a few months to heal.

I don't as a rule walk about with a pet lizard hanging off my shirt or perched on my head or shoulders, that's asking for trouble and an accident waiting to happen IMO.

Oh my god that would give me a heart attack I'm glad you found him!!! Thankfully my skink wont immediately jump out, but he does give the ground a good long concidering look. He's thinking about it.

I think I can hold onto my legged snakes better cause I'm not being stabbed with spikes every time they thrash about.

Although I hold him like advised in the skink guide, my guy doesnt like to stay still and turns around a lot. It can get awkward "stepping" him from arm to arm as he moves about lol.

Oh yeah definitely, especially if they try to move onto a texture they cant grip on to. I like to do the arm cradle like in the guide, I gotta keep a jumper on though cuz he cant push himself on skin and freaks out a little, flailing his lil legs. I'm glad that water dragon was ok!! Now he's got a badass mark to impress the ladies

Yep I always knew it was him for sure when he took up residence near my front porch every year for the next 3 - 4 years after that , mind you he was a very impressive water skink and we both new each other very well, he even accepted food treats from my finger tips on a regular basis and my could be put away those mealworms ....!
