substrate

Postby jodidelisio » Mon Jul 10, 2017 6:24 am

hey everyone just wanted to ask that is it okay for my bluey's substrate is newspaper? because its easier to clean. I have tried using soil and cocochip he doesn't seem to bother at all. I also trim her nails so would this be a good idea or not ? but if you guys think i should stick with either soil or coco husk then say so! Thank you !

I would advise staying away from newspaper, BTS like to borrow and they can't do that with newspaper. Also, if the newspaper gets a bit wet then the ink will stain their skin and be very hard to clean off. BTS are definitely better off on loose substrate rather than things like newspaper, paper towel, or reptile carpet. Babies can be kept on solid substrate for a few months but after that loose substrate is the way to go. Also, the ideal loose substrate depends on your sub species of BTS.

My main concern would be keeping the humidity up, but that can be solved in other ways.

Something that holds more humidity would be better. But you're from a similar location as their local habitat so you might be fine.
