New addition, Eye Banded Eastern

Postby StaceyLeigh » Thu Jul 06, 2017 7:01 pm

I added an Eye banded Eastern to my group this year. This one was produced by Diana Mason (Pocono Herptefauna) Named him Eros as I am leaning male on this one.

I think all the easterns I've seen look like little bandits and living in EBTS natural territory I've seen heaps of them and they are often encountered in people's gardens here .... they are a great skink , my two George and Mildred are near 8 yrs old , bought them as 6 week old captive bred bubs , and both are super sweet and smoogy. Never huff and puff at my wife or me , spoilt rotten by me , or even out our little 6 yr old grandson (who adores them).

Got a big boofy head .... I think you have a boy.

What a cutie! And a super mega blue tongue! Hahah, Norberts tongue isn't as blue! He's got a big ole head for sure, and such a lovely pattern.

Congratulations! That's a really striking skink!
It's cool to see more and more Easterns popping up.

You will love him! I found them to be a bit more shy at first but when they come around they're your best friend. I spoil mine to heck, took me a while to get them. I've got one from Diana and four from Ron. I've also got a QLD Eastern that was a gift from my dear friend Vin Russo. He is the absolute sweetest skink I've ever owned.

CUTE ! .... they are great where really young and super curious about everything ....

Í would ditch the wood chips .... if he swallows one , it will kill him as he will find it impossible to pass it in his poo.

I had by two baby BTS on kitchen grade absorbant paper sheets with some big bits very thick and long and very rough surfaced bluegum bark (large enough for them to hide under or bask on if they chose to , which they often did ... and some long twigs that had been dropped (off my big shady tree) for their first 6 months then got some COURSE KRITTERS CRUMBLE for each of them .

I've been breeding bts for more than 30 years and never had an issue with woodchips, I keep all my bts, shinglebacks, egernia and pinktongues on woodchips.
Only newborn babies are kept on papertowels for the first 2 weeks to a month and I feed them snails and fresh Vegs from the garden. so they know how to sort food from shells wood soil and again, never had a problem
