Restless BT
I just want to make sure there's nothing bothering my Riff-Raff. He's a 9-month-old Northern in a custom wooden enclosure, which he genuinely seems to like (much more than his old tank). His temps are good, and there isn't anything inside that he isn't used to. The thing is, since he warmed up, he's been pacing and scratching at the glass doors like crazy. He is a confirmed male, having dropped sperm plugs shortly after he came out of his pseudo-brumation. Does it sound like typical male skink behavior or could he be feeling insecure? I find the latter hard to believe as all sides of his terrarium but one are wooden, including the top, and he has ample hides and bedding. He just seems to be very restless.

Re: Restless BT
Sounds like normal behaviour for the warmer months, but be sure to keep an eye on the temps so that they are not too hot overall. They sometimes do this behaviour if too hot.
I had a somewhat similar problem with Treasure our last summer, I think if you search treasure back or something you will find my thread. Let me know how you go.

Re: Restless BT
I have two male Northerns, my youngest 10 months doing the same thing. He is still 'in season', while my older one has finished up breeding. He paces the cage constantly,
refuses all but his favorite foods, and is up pacing before the lights come on. He probably knows there is a great big girl right above him...but yes, sounds like typical
male behavior, one of my Eastern boys still doing same.

Sorry, mistake...my youngest northern is 8 months, Eastern is 10 months.

Re: Restless BT
Thanks everybody; seeing as there's nothing wrong with his setup or with him otherwise, I think he's just in season for the first time. He's pretty much exhibiting the exact behavior splashy described.
