Hi! I am new to the blue tongue skink community but I have a certain questions regarding vacation that last about a week. Should I leave the water bowl in her enclosure? because the caresheet mention that they will defecate on it and might as well drink it? what about the feces is there a probability that he will eat his own poop? I can't find anyone that is able to take care of her while i'm gone. btw she is an indonesian bts and currently 4 months old. any answer is greatly appreciated

Hi, being that your skink is so young, you will definitely need to find someone to watch it while your gone for a week. They need fresh water daily and at that age fed at least every 2-5 days. Is there a reptile vet or reptile store close to you that you could board it? What about having a family member or friend come over? Where are you located, perhaps someone on this forum could watch it as well.

thank you for the response! around my place I don't even find a reptile vet or even if I do find one it will be very far away. I live in the same place my skink originate, which is Indonesia. But yeah, I will do so. One more question, does the water needs to replaced daily? because i'm afraid they will defecate in it and drink it which can lead to worms problems. Anyway, thank you for your response definitely a great help

Wow, Indonesia amazing. Never talked to someone from there. Yes, it is recommended to change the water daily. I have had my skinks for a year and only once have they ever defecated in their water. I wish I could help more. Good luck

When they are adult it's easier to go away for a week without much problem, but while young they need food every few days, poop clean up, monitored temps, and constant access to fresh water.
