Okay, so my first blue tongue, Jörmungandr, arrived yesterday by courier and is settling in. I got them (unsexed so I'm keeping it neutral) from a pet shop who have a regular customer that breeds them, but the pet shop was selling them just as Indonesian Blue Tongued Skinks. I'd like to know, are they actually Tiliqua gigas gigas or are they one of the other Indonesian subspecies? They're only 5-6 months old so I'm not sure if it's even possible to tell at this age lol, I'm very new to this.
Excuse them for the messiness, they like to burrow!
Before you ask, yes I checked them over when they arrived. No mites, clear eyes, all claws and no stuck shed on tail or toes. They have a slightly damaged scale on their head but I am not sure if they are just going into shed as all scales are dull and slightly dry. They have a good temperament - understandably a lil hissy when I got them out of the bag they arrived in and are currently a little shy, but is eating well and even accepted a blueberry out of my hand this morning. No bad pet shop experiences here, thank god.
Is my boy a New Form Merauke?

Re: First BTS ID help?
Looks like an IJ (Irian Jaya) to me. Indonesian species. Congratulations and best of luck with your new pet!

Re: First BTS ID help?
I wondered about IJ because of his banding (just found out he's is in fact male so I can use he lol, and he is in shed) but wasn't sure because his legs are black with that checkerboard pattern (I believe I read somewhere that IJ's have brown legs not black?) and he only has the one temporal streak?
Thank you though! He's a really lovely boy, very friendly :3

Re: First BTS ID help?
He's nearly finished his first shed with me now, just a couple of toes and the end of his tail left (I'm keeping an eye in case it's stuck and he needs a bath to help get it off)
However, with this shed he makes even less sense than before lol
He's a bright gold, with black stripes and bronze inside the black markings.
His sides are this strange but very pretty black stripes with black and white and salmon coloured speckles in the in between spaces?
He's got this singular white scale on the tip of his nose above his mouth.
His belly is a gradient white to what I can only describe as a salmon orange?
His legs are jet black like an Indonesian, but speckled with that same salmon colour. His tail is a pale gradient down from his body to white and has black rings all the way down to a black tail tip.
I know he's going to change an awful lot before he's full grown, but it'd be helpful as far as humidity and such to know exactly what subspecies he is :0
Also I'd really like to get him a fancy nameplate lol

Was 'lucky' enough to be watching him when he went to the toilet. Definitely a male

I think I've identified him as a new form Merauke! The pictures I've seen of them on here look startlingly like him
If anyone who knows Meraukes could chime in and confirm or deny this, it'd be awfully helpful~ Want to get some nameplates made for him and my lil snake.

He looks like my boy Napoleon! I say he’s a Irian Jaya because he’s got an oddball pattern. His belly is a salmon pink- here is him in his bath the other day!
