Might have eaten substrate?

I have a month old Northen, right now he is on newspaper, but while eating I think I saw him eat some substrate that had come from his humid hide (he had pushed some out when exiting) when eating. If they do, is it ok for them to consume a tiny amount of coco fiber? I wasn't quite sure if it was substrate or food, but if it was substrate is there anything I should keep an eye out for?
