BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

So generally speaking how much more difficult is it to raise a younger/baby BTS instead of an adult? I'm getting the impression it's a lot harder to find adults from breeders.

Babies are very easy to raise if they aren't wild caught. They need more food as babies and grow very quickly. Babies are much easier to find than adults. Most breeders will hardly ever sell adults. And since blue tongues have live birth they are just called babies not hatchlings lol. It's the middle of breeding season and you should start seeing babies up for sale around spring/summer. Any babies available now are most likely imported and will need a vet check for parasites.

Only difference between raising a baby and a adult is you feed the baby more often.

Like the others have said feed babies more often but smaller amounts at a time.

Also I would add that as babies are small they are vulnerable so will hide most of the time. However, as long as you provide hiding spaces, leave them alone for the first few weeks to settle in and then gradually increase handling and offering treats etc to build trust they will start to be more curious.

Having said that, same could be said for older skinks that change environments.

Patience really either way.
