BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hi I have a lot of cresteds and I have my blue tongue some watermelon pangea I also have insect as well would that be ok as a stable food for him? I looked and nothing seems to be bad in it?

I wouldn't use this as a stable food for a few reasons. Texture and consistency isn't really suited for a Bluetongue skinks, it is actually good for them to chew some food, so a mix of veggies and meat (dog/cat food normal staple for meat) is better suited for them. Also protein really isn't high enough except maybe the formula with insects. It also just would really be cost effective, the Pangea food is quite pricey, the amount you would need to feed them compared to a crested gecko I believe would make it a very expensive meal. Putting a teaspoon or so on top of their food occasionally as a treat would be fine. Is pangea gecko food (picture attached) appropriate to feed frequently to my northern BTS?? And if not, what brand of dog food can i feed my bluey? Could people attach links or pictures or guide me in the direction to the answer to these??

While the Pangea gecko food wouldn't hurt your bluey, you'll want to use something different as his staple source of protein. Any high-quality wet dog or cat food made of real chicken or turkey with no fillers is a good choice. Beef is usually a little too fatty. You'll still need to provide leafy greens (turnip, dandelion, or mustard greens) and veggies (broccoli, yellow squash, carrots, green beans). Occasional blueberries or banana are fine too, as a treat or if you need to entice a picky bluey to eat.

Actually I disagree with this.

Previous discussions on the forum have shown that blueys need the red meats as a staple to get all the nutrients they need, especially meats (or dog food) that includes more of the animal such as by products and organs. Relying on poultry as the only source of meat/protein isn't complete enough and blueys that have been kept on only this have later developed health problems like mbd but not those fed red meats or dog food as staple. Poultry is great as occasional feeds to add variety.

Oh wow! I had actually only ever read that red meat was for fattening up breeding blueys and to be really careful with it! I apologize for any confusion, but thank you, alichamp! Looks like my girl's getting some beef next!

Some of the info out there on various Facebook groups can be sketchy at best...
If a skink starts to get overweight, rather than cutting red meat out it's better to add a bit more veggies to the food or feeding well rounded, nutritious meals less frequently. Chicken as a staple has caused proven cases of MBD in some skinks. Our food chart really has proven to be the best reference guide out there as to what to feed and how often.
