New owner with some questions

So I bought my first BTS two days ago and when I got the BTS it's behavior seemed normal as it ate a small bit, drank a small bit and mostly sat in it's basking spot, however when I woke up this morning he was buried in his substrate in his hide and he hasn't come out for hours and when I tried to touch him to see if he was still alive he snorted at me. Is this normal behavior? I've read about brumation, but as this is my first BTS I have no clue what their normal behavior is or the ability to detect if they are going into brumation or not.

No need to worry! This is completely normal for a new BT. Mine did exactly the same - exploring the first day and then hiding and being huffy the next few. If yours is under a year old and your temps are high enough, it's probably not brumation, although they are innately lethargic this time of year at any age. Just give the little guy some space for a couple of days. Try offering some food on the cool end in a tupperware lid, and don't worry if he isn't out when you do; he'll smell it and go get it when he's ready. You can also try giving him a little treat (banana or a blueberry) when you do see him out and about - that worked really well for me! :)

Yes ditto Laceflower. Just make sure the temps are right and as long as he is eating and Defacating normally the other stuff will take time. Disturbing them when they are hiding or sleepy will probably make them feel insecure so avoid this unless there is a good reason for it.
