Seram locality?

Postby JSJ » Sun Dec 18, 2016 2:24 pm

Hi

A shop near me is advertising "Seram" locality (Tiliqua gigas evanescens). Are they the same as the Indonesians or is there a slight difference? I have had no luck finding info on the Seram locality on google, if anybody has any. I've attached the shops photos. Many thanks for any info. Will be my first skink :D

Looks like a cute little classic Indonesian, tiliqua gigas gigas, verses tiliqua gigas evanescence (merauke) which it is advertised as. So it is a different subspecies, which means, yes the difference is more than slight, but the two subspecies share many similarities. As far as care goes though, they are very similar, and probably exactly the same, they both are a humidity loving. As far as pets go, its really just your preference, and the particular animals personality.

You would not meet with a good reception breeding the two subspecies together, and that's really the only time the difference between them becomes most important.

Ceram and Ambon are the islands most classic Indonesians are exported from.
