Re: brown on the end of tongue?
I don't suppose you have any pictures, that doesn't sound normal to me. I'd suggest a vet visit to put your mind at ease and maybe get to the bottom of that, and his lack of eating. I wish I had some better advice for you, but I don't have any experience with such a thing. The forum has been a bit slow lately, and a lot of the long time, more experienced keepers haven't been posting for a while, so its could be a while before you get a more educated response.

Re: brown on the end of tongue?
Is the brown patch raised at all? After seeing your picture Im not so sure this is abnormal, time to take a closer look at some tongue shots out there.
I'm sorry I know medical concerns with our pets when money is tight can be very stressful. I'd focus on getting him eating. Have you had any luck feeding wet catfood? You can try a carrot and squash baby food as well, perhaps mixed in to the catfood, that can sometimes get them eating.
I use Dewdney Animal Hospital in Mission. I've actually only been there once, as I was using a different vet before, but I found this vet far more informed about blue tongues. They also offer a fecal float with the first exam free, so if you can manage to get in there bring a sample for them (or you can mail it). Ive also been to Eagle ridge animal and bird hospital in coquitlam, they have a herp vet, make sure if you book with them that they book you in with her.
Please keep us updated.

Did a quick search for tongue shots, have a look at the second image posted by Dakota here;

Look similar? Nice and normal.
