Do Blueys stop eating during breeding season?

Hi!

So Ive had my blue tongue pepper for about five weeks now and she is such a sweetheart. I actually think she is a HE because i saw some sperm plugs (they were white and stringy and were close to the poop) shes also gotten a bit cage aggressive recently, i dont know if its bc its breedjng season or bc shes just become cage aggressive, but outside she is very calm and likes sleeping on my shoulder or my lap.

But anyways onto my question. Pepper has always been a bit fussy even at the start. And she doesnt rly eat a lot. Shes not skinny but she could defs gain some weight. She was eating at least one a week. (Twice was an achievement) and she is drinking, comes out of her tank at 7 everyday to bask and generally seems healthy, active and curious.

She is just eating less. Ive thought of ALL the reasons and my basking temps are good around 32-37 degrees. Ive tried crickets mealworms even snails. She also doesn't like banana and will only eat dog food with some vegetables inside it. She likes to burrow and also loves any enrichment i give her. Should i be worried about the lack of eating? Shes defs grown a little larger and longer but she hasnt shed yet.

I try to handle her every day and she seems great, calm and enjoys coming out. But shes been getting huffy when i try to get her out. Maybe im stressing her out too much?

Im wondering if i should schedule a vet appointment but it might be too expensive. I will definitely go if there was a problem though.

During breeding seasons males are focused on finding a female and can neglect eating, offer the food each week as usual and it will eat eventually.

Yeah, there isn't really anything in your post which indicates something is wrong or that a vet visit is needed.

Is your skink an adult? I'm not sure how often you are giving food, but as Nick suggested, keep offering once a week (if adult) and he/she will eat when hungry. They can go a while without food without any other issues so unless something else changes I don't see anything to worry about at this stage.

Handling every day for some skinks will be fine but not for others. If you think it is starting to freak him/her out then yes you could reduce handling or make sure you don't have him/her out for too long.

It's different if your skink is still young though.
