Blue Tongue skink Respiratory Infection

Postby lize9 » Wed Oct 05, 2016 4:45 pm

This is my first time on this form but I am really anxious. My Blue Tongue Skink has been diagnosed yesterday by a vet with having a respiratory infection and I got the antibiotics which I have to inject every couple of day. He was given the injection the day of the vet but now he seems to be more lethargic and not making an effort to hide. Should I be worried? He looks pretty terrible and when I held him today to give him a bath(he had some problems shedding and the vet recommended it) he feels warmer than usual even though he he hasn't been in the basking area. The vet said my husbandry was good (Basking temp: Day- 105, Night- 70, Humidity 35%, 40 Gallon Breeder Enclosure) but I'm Still worried that I'm doing something wrong so if you have any thoughts please let me know.

So sorry your post has been unanswered this long,,,
How are things going; any better?

A very lethargic skink is always a great concern, and if this is still an issue, you ought to call the vet and take him in for a follow-up --these are usually either at a reduced cost or free of charge.

Can you provide a bit more info. Id like to help if i can. What species/subspecies do you own? can you give details on diet, pics of the enclosure, and what antibiotic he was prescribed? I hope all is well.
