Unfortunately we discovered our lovely Blue Tongued Skink, Rex, deceased in his vivarium. It must have happened overnight and we are very sad. As ever you wonder, could it be something we did or did not do. He was laying straight out on his belly at the back of the vivarium with congealed blood around his mouth. We took Rex and another called, Lilly from out local rescue centre here in jersey in the UK Chanel islands. They did not have any paperwork or real knowledge about the two skinks. we guess they were around 5 years old, this was 5 years ago, although we have nothing to base this on. Can anyone shed any light on what may have been the cause of the loss of Rex.
thanks
John

Re: Sad Day
I am so sorry for your loss. I've lost skinks myself but none in such a way.
There really is no way to tell what might have happened ...we can maybe throw some guesses your way, but I don't know how helpful they would be or if they'd give you any comfort at all. Really, the only things I could grasp at would all be something happening to him... and if you didn't observe anything then you'd be none the wiser...
I wish I could help in some way, comfort in some way, but find myself feeling rather useless
