mercury vapor bulb for skinks?

mercury vapor bulb for skinks?

I was just wondering if this light http://www.dbdpet.com/megaray-100w-mercury-vapor/ (mercury vapor bulb) would be ok for the northern skink im getting. Im building a 5x3x2 wood cage. Thanks!

I use powersun MVB's for mine under one year and after that just standard bulbs, as I supplement with calcium/D3. The MVB's are great as they do it all with just one bulb.
They're a bit pricey but last a long time and you don't have a zillion cords dangling from your screen.

what wattage do you use?

Wattage needed will vary between set ups so keep in mind that what works for one person won't necessary work for another. For example if your enclosure is wood you may need less wattage than someone using glass. You'd want to go with the lowest wattage needed to get the right basking temp.

I use 100s for 40 breeder size.
