Still in Brumation??

Postby CaeserTheBluey » Sat Mar 05, 2016 6:16 am

Hi all,

My 2 year old Irian Jaya (?) has been in brumation since the middle of November.. Is this length of time normal? I have heard mixed things..

Its been just over three and a half months and I holy cow I miss him! He hasn't come out much to eat or drink by himself but I've made sure he's hydrated.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

How are the ambient temps in the tank?
You can try to slowly raise his nighttime temps a bit and turning on his lights a bit earlier in the morning, see if that triggers him to start rousing.
Normally they take their ques from a lot of things: lights, temps, air pressure, etc. You can try to manipulate some of them to signal his instincts; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
