A couple of questions...

I plan on getting a BTS soon. Seeing all the studies and proof, I've decided not to use artificial heat or uv lighting. I'm going to use a tub with a UTH, controlled by a thermostat. So, I have a couple of questions.

1) Should the UTH be kept at 100 degrees fahrenheit just like a basking spot would be?
2) How often should I supplement the diet with D3? I plan on buying a lil baby and feed them every two days, if it helps.
3) Should I cook the meat I plan on feeding or feed it raw? I plan on mainly feeding ground lean turkey with the occasional chicken breast (ripped/cut up) and the rare ground beef (seems to have a lot of fat)
4) I do plan on moving them to a AP Cage once they are of decent size, but in the meantime, what size tub should I use for a baby? I was planning on using a 32qt sterilte then moving em to a 41qt. Once they outgrew that, I would move them to the AP Cage. Would that work?

To answer #2, i do mine once a week but i also offer UV lighting for what thats worth but i think without UV it would still be the once a week.

Be careful as some UTH aren't meant to be used on plastic and may malfunction.

Not sure what exactly you're asking... but I would suggest you get a temp gun, and test the area above the UTH to make sure you're getting the temperature you're looking for. If you're using a substrate, make sure you check both on top of and underneath the substrate, to make sure none is too hot as well as warm enough.

We generally suggest supplementing calcium w/D3 on every other to every third meal.

We generally advice people to cook the meat (I do 95% of the time), but plenty of people do feed raw to some degree, so I think that'll be a judgement call on your part, how you feel about the source of the meat you get.

BTS do not need to start out in smaller tanks, they do just fine with as much space as you can give them as long as they have plenty of hides and other cover to find places where they feel secure. So no need to start out small.

We rarely have problems with people responding rudely, no worries there. As long as people do some research on their own and don't just count on every bit of information to be dug out and handed to them, we have no problems answering whatever questions come up.

Just a quick comment on the UTH... dont expect it to provide all the heat you need. I use UTH as well as a ceramic bulb and UV bulb to keep the temps where i want them during winter. During summer the UTH will be sufficient.

This would depend on many things, among them: the material and size of the tank, the strength and size of the UTH, the type and thickness of the substrate.

Absolutely; I could not agree more.

What temperature should you keep the UTH at? I can't answer that. But you need to set the thermostat so you have a temp gradient in the tank so it gives you a warm side in the 90's, preferably with a basking spot closer to 100, and a cool side in the 70's. That's just a rough guide that fits most species of BTS. Easier answer: set it so your gradient goes from 100 down to 70.

Cook the meat like it's been described in some of the feeding and food prep threads in the FAQ.

I believe my brand of calcium is Rep-cal, but I can't swear to it as I'm not home, and I don't know that I necessarily recommend it either; they're all pretty good....
