My BTS shed yesterday and a question!

Postby Gao » Wed Dec 09, 2015 2:47 am

When I got her she has a very severe mite infestation. But she's healthy herself. I took her to the vet and have been treating her with Frontline. The treatment has been very effective and no live mites have been seen for weeks. She still had a lot of dead mites under her scales but yesterday she shed and all the dead mites came off together with the old skink! :D I planned to do the fourth treatment this Thursday but now since she just shed should I still do it? Is the new skin too sensitive for the treatment? :D

BTW before shedding she was black and grey and looked very dirty but now look at the bright colors! :D Never thought the dead mites under her scale would come off that easily just with a shed! I guess it's a good thing :)

People on this forum said she's an Irian Jaya. But there are no spots on her forearms so I'm not sure :D

I think you'll be just fine doing the treatment. The new layer of scales are normally fully hardened and ready to go when it's time for a reptile to shed.

Irian Jaya for sure. IJ's very often have clear front legs just like that.

I'm no expert by any means, but I don't see any hybrid signs at all. Just an unusually beautiful IJ :)
