BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hello. I am new to these forums. I was looking for some helpful tips that would help with the difficulty level of northern blue tongues breeding and how to do these things properly. Thank you!!!!

A quick question for starters, for how many years have you been keeping BTS and with which species have you worked?

I am actually a starter. I have never bred blueys, thats why im asking for tips. I'm still in the process of research and know the basics, but I need some more in depth breeding experiences, so that I'm ready for whatever happens when I first breed a pair of BTS.

Yes Susann, I have done a lot. Even reading past forum topics from these forums. But I havent found much on brumation. So I actually have learned how to succesfully breed them, all of the difficulty involved, but I need more information on brumation for breeding purposes and the right temps for the northern species.

You've learned how to successfully breed them? So, it's not breeding info you're after, it's brumation info?

Northerns are not brumaters naturally,the evidence of that is in when they breed in nature,when temps are at there lowest,middle of the dry season

Where ortherns are from is stinking hot year round,30 degrees plus during the day all year long,they bave distinctive wet/dry seasons

Northerns are just very tolerant

Thanks Richard. So instead of naturally brumating, the owner will have to be the one to drop their temps? And Richard, you said 30 degrees F are the lowest temps.

I think he means 30C which is actually pretty hot.

Yeah i meant it stays 30 plus degrees celcius year round day time temp in there range,there tropical animals,i highly dont reccomend trying to brumate them at 30 degrees farenhite,would likely kill them

Look up the temperatures and averages year round for darwin ,in the northern territory ,australia

Thats bang pretty much the middle of there range
