BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hi all, please see below a bunch of pics of my new BTS, I'm currently trying to figure her species, the breeder said Tanimbar and she seems to fit the bill but we're not 100% certain, any experienced eyes would be a help! First time owning BTSs but had multiple reptiles before, so far she's quite reclusive and hissy when disturbed. I'm trying to give her time to adjust/settle but she's not really going for food when it's offered which is concerning.

That is indeed a Tanimbar

Shes a beauty, don't be concerned about the lack of eating can take days or weeks for them to start to eat.

It is quite amazing how common Tanimbars are in the United Kingdom. I wonder if it is due to breeding or if someone specifically imports them? Anyways, nice looking fellow. Welcome to the forum.

Quite commonly imported into the states to,just americans seem terrified of them,lol,so pick out gigas types instead or ijs which are calmer as a rule

Her (total guess on sex, just an assumption based on the fact she was in the group of babies with slightly smaller heads lol) breeder was told by the chap who originally owned her parents that they were both Northerns, but was later informed by someone else they were Tanimbars. That's why I wanted to double check it with a bunch of more experienced owners. She was lovely for the first week we had her, ate fine, would occasionally be spotted out exploring her new home. One time she was caught climbing up one of the fake plants in the corner of her viv lol. But for about a week now she seems to have been living under her substrate. Thankfully yesterday she ate something just after posting those pics but she did take a little coaxing. Though she does have the typical Tanimbar attitude, all hissing & puffing. Hopefully we'll be able to start the hand feeding in another week or two & she'll eventually calm to our presence.

Also, from what I understand Tanimbars are quite commonly imported into the UK for sale in local pet shops & what not. So if you see a Bluey in a UK pet shop, there's a strong chance it is a wild caught import.
