We are new BTS owners: Meet Zipper, our axanthic halmahera!

Postby aaronhouts » Fri Jul 31, 2015 7:16 pm

Hi, all!

We are new bts owners (Susan and Aaron Houts); this is Zipper, our axanthic halmahera. Got him 2 weeks ago, and this is the day of his/her first shed. Has eaten every day and is growing fast (62 grams to 84 grams).

Great personality. We love him! Picking up a second tomorrow. Man, these things are addictive. So smart and FUN!

Looking forward to getting more involved in the bts community. Susann has been awesome and so supportive!

#reptilesmakegreatpets
(You'll see us use this on our posts and such. We came up with this tag a few years ago when we were breeding boas and walking around a reptile show (probably Daytona). Reptiles DO make great pets, especially for someone allergic to anything with fuzz and/or feathers, like us! :):)

Thanks for looking...
Susan

Very nice. I wish I had the money to pick some up. They have been on my list for years now. Too poor, though. :leftout: :wall:

Eventually, though. :)

Thanks, everyone!
We appreciate the kind words. These things are really awesome!
We actually picked up a second one yesterday. We're hoping to put together a small group and hopefully breed some Axanthics in a little while.
Susan and I will post more pics soon of the new one.

Thanks again, everyone!
Zipper was up to 104 grams yesterday.
jvalde55: Yes. We got him from Bob and Andrew Potts from Herp Hobby Shop in Tampa/Oldsmar. I think they have one left. Good luck and make sure and post if you get one.

Beautiful! I was lucky enough to be able to keep an axanthic indo back in 2007? 2008? After searching for some females for him, I decided it was better to send him to a well known breeder in hopes to successfully breed them. So I shipped him off to Switzerland! lol.

Thanks again for the kind words, everybody!
Zipper is doing great. (S)He's been here a month and has just about doubled in weight and has grown longer and larger. Her/His temperament is placid and tame and (s)he eats daily. (I've got to find my way around these pronouns. I wish we could sex these things as babies!)
Here's Zipper at the ol' watering hole.
