BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

She is not ready Richard. Will have to try and establish living pattern for her as the owner has her on 24hr heat.
Wait until next season to see if we can work out her window. My one just isn't interested so will leave him until next season. Still think mine looks female though.

Hypo nothern blue tongues.

Did this line come out of the wild or was it a random mutation in captive propagation?

The major development of this type was done by a person in Darwin a Mr. Coward, am unsure if a foundation animal was used or selective line breeding. Will try and find out more or if anyone has more information feel welcome to add.

Scott,that first pic is telling me he thinks shes ready,i have a couple of mine on 24 hour heat and they seem to follow the no night heat ones,and the actual low ambients of cage even with a hot spot available,they appear to use the ambient drop to there advantage either way ,so i wouldnt write it off just yet

From memory i believe mr coward bred these from wild darwins,i recall on a forum him mentioning the wild ones were throwing the odd hypo baby back when they were first breeding them and working on the line

From all accounts hypo over hypo serms to be a challenge to successfully breed consistently ,this form i think is a super hypo form,theres also a hypo form i believe thats more normal darwin looking but minus any black

I could be wrong there but that was my understanding of it with out looking deep into it

I believe origionally they were a locality type animal dakota,but alot have been put over any old northerns over a number of years and i cant say ive ever seen any labled as a specific locality type northern,as people are still trying to establish the line and the lines labled hypo northern because of this

Thanks Dakota. Thought i would post some decent pics of the two of them to show their true colour. Haven't given up on these two breeding this year Richard. I think another year of growing will do him good. I am not sure whether the owner of the female is happy to have a Northern put over her. Then grow the off spring to breed with her. I am not keen on putting my big northern over her as the marks he leaves on her don't look good. Especially when you have a light coloured animal like her and is owned by someone else.

Yeah big males can be rough as guts enough on normal coloured fenales
