BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hey guys.

I know there's probably multiple threads on here about stuck shed so, sorry if this is redundant. I think Hotdog has some stuck shed on her nose but, I'm not exactly sure. She shed about a week ago and while I helped get some of it off of her feet, I didn't notice the shed on her nose (if that is indeed what it is) until a day ago. I keep the humidity in her tank relatively high as she has dry skin around her eyes and I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do to get the shed off.

I know soaking is a good option but, she doesn't usually stick her whole head in the water so I don't know if that would help. I have seen some people post that they use a damp q-tip to get stuck shed off and while I tried that briefly today, my girl was not a fan and kept shaking her head to try and get away (if this is indeed a successful endeavour I will take her out and try it again tomorrow).

I'll post some pictures below and you guys can let me know if you have any advice.

I think what you did with the q-tip was just fine. I had stuck toes and nose shed plenty of times on my bts.

You could try another bath and have a bit of paper towel soaked with water and hold/pat it over the scale to moisten that way. I also found that a tiny bit of olive oil patted or rubbed onto the scales helped lift off remaining shed if it is not too close to the eye. Just try the tiniest drop on the tip of your little finger and be careful not to have it drip into the eye or nostril. You don't actually need much it spreads well. That might help soften it enough to rub or lift it off.

The scale actually came of with the help of the damp q-tip method I wasn't sure I had tried hard enough to get the scale off but I noticed it was gone the morning after I had used the q-tip. Thanks for the advice though alichamp; I might try the olive oil if I ever have any really stubborn stuck shed.
