Hey guys, recently my BTS has loose scales on his stomach. It seems like they are easily lifted up. I know that he's not in shed because I've had him a long time so trust me. Thankyou for your help guys.

What is your humidity like? What substrate do you use? What species do you have?

I have a merauke, aspen substrate and relatively low humidity.

Meraukes are from Papua New Guinea and Papua, Indonesia. They live roughly 600 miles south of the equator. They thrive with higher humidity (~65%±). Aspen does not hold humidity at all. What you are seeing are the belly scales being moisture deficient - the Aspen is too dry and is soaking the moisture from the skink's belly. Since Aspen typically molds easily when wet, you need a better substrate for humidity. I really like Fir bark (Reptibark, Orchid bark), but there are a number of substrates to choose from that will benefit your little guy.
