Spooky just ate a beetle.

Okay... so this just happened so fast I literally cannot fathom how I literally couldn't do anything to stop it from happening.

Today is feeding day for Spooky, and as I was approaching his tank, I heard buzzing and then this giant beetle (It looked like the wood-boring beetles around my area, AKA possibly a White Spotted Sawyer Beetle) And it COINCIDENTALLY landed RIGHT next to Spooky's face, where he immediately attacked it and ate it.

I looked around and it says it's not a poisonous bug, but now I'm just freaking concerned. Does anyone know anything about BTS eating random insects? I usually only feed him crickets and superworms every now and then but... it happened so fast and I just don't want him to get sick...

They eat insects in the wild, as you said its non poisonous so you have nothing to worry about would have been good protein for him.

Spooky should be just fine. Obi enjoys catching woodlice, spiders, beetles, etc. whenever I let him out in the backyard, and he's perfectly healthy.

From my understanding, the only things really to worry about are fire flies in the US - although someone will probably correct me.

Other than that, bugs are natural foods and make up a large part of their wild diets. :-)

That must have been something to watch! Well, you should try some canned insects to vary your bts's diet. Canned snails by exoterra is a favorite of my bts.

It was probably the high point of his day. Mine will chase you across the room for a dubia roach! He probably crushed it so fast no damage could be done, would just worry about those huge jaws those beetles have (at least the longhorns around here) maybe biting his tongue or something. I'm sure the skink made fast work of it and wanted another!
