Finny Is ALWAYS Hiding Now?????
A few days ago Finny started staying in one of her hides all day. She would only come out for food, but today she wouldn't even come out for that. I had to feed her with a spoon. At first I was thinking she might be stressed from all the noise my little brother makes in his room next door, but now I'm thinking she could be sick. But a sick skink wouldn't have an appetite, would they? I'm worried, she's been hiding for 4 days.
What can I do to make her stop hiding?

EDIT: I don't think she's sick. She's acting normal, except for the fact that she freaks out when I put the towel on the ground to pick her up, and she's hiding.
I picked up her cave this morning to see how she's doing (since she wouldn't come out for food) and she eventually walked around and was basking for a teeny bit.

Re: Finny Is ALWAYS Hiding Now?????
My BTS hides a lot and only comes out every couple of days but has been like that since we got him 3 months ago so it is not new for him, it's normal behavior so that's just how he is. He's about 5 months now.
But you've had a few concerns with Finny recently (burn, eye problems) so what's happened with those?
I wonder whether it might be a good idea to take him to a vet just for a check over to give him clear health? I was freaking out that our bts still wasn't coming out much after 6 weeks but he had a check and sleep over at the place we got him from. They said he's perfectly healthy so that made me feel much better. We realised that's just his temperament (lazy and fussy!). I did change his tank around a bit for him but it gave me peace of mind too so I knew it was ok to relax and let him be.

Thanks. I think she's stressed from all the noise upstairs.
As for the "burn", she's just getting ready to shed soon. And her eyes? Her eyelids are looking better but if they stop getting better we're going to take her to the vet. They honestly don't look swollen, just weird. I don't know how to explain it.

I really just want to get her used to the noise. How would I do that?
Or would she just gradually have to get used to it over time?

Many of people including myself find that skinks behaviour changes close to shedding so if you say shes going to shed soon then it is completely reasonable for a skink to get more timid or aggressive.

Oh! I never thought about that! That could be part of the problem, if it's not just the noise - my Corn Snake hides for a few days before he gets ready to shed.

Re: Finny Is ALWAYS Hiding Now?????
My BTS Toad hides almost all the time. He comes out when he is hungry or wants to bask a bit. He does come out from time to time though. I believe every BTS has their unique personalities. I think the temperature and the time of year may effect how often your BTS comes out of hiding. I have noticed that my BTS Toad does not enjoy noise very much. He seems to come out more often when my apartment is quite.

UPDATE: Finny must be acting different because she's going to shed, like Kellogg. She's been coming out for about 10 minutes every morning to bask now, so that's good. Not stress or sick!
