Hello everyone, I'm a semi new member here. I forgot my login from a few years ago so, anyway. I am the proud owner of a large Merauke blue tongue. I have had her for a few years now and she is one very large gorgeous probable female. I'm thinking about adding more species of blue tongues as I have more room now so I've been lurking around the boards and I have a few questions relating to Meraukes specifically. I have noticed a few slightly different opinions from a few years ago. So I'm wondering what the consensus is on the temperature and humidity differences versus their Australian cousins.
My girl has never had any problems but after reading on here for the past few days I have bumped up the humidity from around 45 percent average to around 65-70 percent average, and she does seem to like it. Her basking spot is 100 and the cool side is around 75-77, a bit cooler if she dug down to the bottom. On the warm side I have a heat mat setup on a thermostat keeping it around 80 at the bottom and 75 on top of the substrate just so she can have the option for a little more warmth at night. Night temp for the cool side is 73-74 degrees.
So, no problems but I just like to make sure my husbandry reflects the current opinions, cause we are always learning more, so what do you think?

Sounds absolutely perfect!
Why on earth would you add more species when you already own the perfect one?!
Just get another Merauke!

Cool, thanks Susann I know your a Merauke expert, I get a little obsessive with my animals conditions so I appreciate the advice. I kinda like to have one of everything, which is one reason I thought about getting a northern, plus I'd like to see the personality differences. Another Merauke would be easier to find in my area though and I know they wouldn't have the same personalities anyway so I don't know, I'll probablly get what I can find thanks again

Sounds good to me. My Merauke is doing very well with the humidity at about 50% at all times. It is tough to keep it high where I am at in Arizona.
