Picky Skink Won't Eat Greens

We got Finny on April 26, and she's doing great. Not afraid of hands (but doesn't like being held), active, curious. Drinking and pooping and all that. But, she won't eat.

She will eat, but only if it's cat food. It's really good stuff, premium (can't remember the brand), with rabbit and turkey. The only things I've gotten her to eat are the cat food and half-of-some-raspberries with cat food in them. I've given her those things with her greens (mustard greens, turnip greens, arugula, and some yellow squash) but she won't touch it :(

Funny thing this morning, I tried to trick her into eating her greens by making her follow a spoon with the cat food on it, and then I put the spoon under the greens. She wouldn't eat it. By then she just went to bask.

So how do I get her to eat? A diet of cat food and raspberries isn't the healthiest thing.

Might just take a while for it to adjust to eating healthy at your place, due to adjusting to new place and depending on what its diet was before you. What kind of skink do you have and how old? If you are sure your enclosure set up is right and no other signs of illness or stress then follow these threads in FAQ on feeding, very detailed and practical

BTS not eating? Read this! viewtopic.php?f=24&t=22406

Also suggest switching to dog food.

I don't think it's an illness, most likely just stress because she was eating a similar mix. of greens at the rescue. She's an Irian Jaya, 2 yrs. old. I'm on my phone right now so I can't get a picture of the enclosure right now. I'll read that tomorrow! Thanks!

How old is your skink and what kind? When they are young they concentrate more on protein so they can grow fast. Also blue tongues have been observed in the wild as only eating greens as a survival mechanism when other food is in short supply. I feed mine all HQ dog food which has veggies mixed in it already.

She's a 2 yr. old Irian Jaya. I got her to eat today by mixing the cat food with bananas, raspberries, blackberries, mustard greens, collard greens, and arugula greens. She seemed to like it a lot. Once we run out of the cat food (which will be a while, she'll probably be used to eating greens too by then) I'll buy dog food.
