Eating Spagnum Moss?

I found my skink was bitting spagnum moss yesterday,I'm not sure if he's eating them,I think he's hungry,I give him some beef and cucumber,he finished them really fast.
But today i still hearing some sound and find he's digging the spagnum moss at the same spot,when I go to check him,he just freeze and looks at me like saying"Nothing wrong here, go back to your computer."He wont touch fresh greens unless with beef or snail,can he just develop a hobby of eating spagnum moss?
And no there's no food left on the moss,i put all food in bowl every time and make sure no food out when he eat...and I'm sure He was chowing things yesterday...
