Hates glass??

Hi all, my 4 month old has been acting strange again. I want to know if this is common or if theres anything I can do or what. Again, I'm new to owning a skink.

Lately, Gulliver has been scratching and digging at the left side of his tank, very often. I thought that must mean he wants out. I think maybe once, it did actually mean "I want out". But the majority of the time when he claws, I take him out, and it's not that he wants to be out, it's that he... really doesn't like the glass?? When I take him out, he climbs over to where the tank is, goes to the same side he was scratching at, and claws at it from the outside instead! Maybe he just doesn't understand glass. He's been doing this for maybe five days. And each time, I assume he wants out, he merely just wants to claw at the left side of the tank, inside or out. Then it wasn't just that one side, it was all of them. Sometimes he's calm and normal, but other times he just goes on a rampage of scratching at all sides of the tank.

Currently, I don't have a tank background, but I have lots of fake plants strung along the walls. This most recent tank cleaning, I placed in even more plants in an attempt to deter him from clawing the tank. Only the front side is uncovered, which he of course started scratching. Is it his reflection? Is there anything I can do to get him to stop? He seems really frustrated and angry when he does it. I'm going to pick up a background soon, but until then, any tips?

Some other things about him that are odd:
He's a GREAT climber. Like, for a skink, he's amazing. And daring, he doesn't even care how tall the thing might be.
He's super duper energetic, whenever he's outside of this tank. Whenever he's inside his tank (other than the recent glass clawing) he's very calm and rarely explores. It's like an instant mood change from when he's outside to being put back in.
He rarely hides, outside or inside of his tank.
He rarely basks, just sort of rests his head on his rock. And no, it's not too hot, the temp of it should be fine.

Any advice for any of these behaviors? Are they normal? Can I do something??

Skinks don't really get the concept of glass. They see clear and try to walk through and get confused and frustrated when they cant go through the glass. It could be a good idea to cover all side of the tank instead of the front for viewing.

And skinks can regulate their own temperatures well. If it needs to come out to bask it will, if it doesn't feel like it needs to it won't. As long as your bluey is eating and your temperatures are correct it should be fine
