Keeping multiple shinglebacks?

Hello everyone,

First post here, from Australia, currently have an eastern and a vic lowland blotched bluey, I am looking for a new addition to my studio.

My question is about Shinglebacks, I know the rules and guidelines for best practise for blueys but Shingles seem to be a bit different. Are a male/female pair able to be kept together in a 4x2x2 enclosure year round?

I might think a 4x2 might be a bit to small for a pair, i use a 4x2 for a single Bluie so if i was to have 2 together i would lean more towards a 5x2 or a 6x2.

Thanks for the reply mate, I also keep my Blueys alone and in the same size enclosure, I have seen Shinglebacks kept in smaller enclosures but wanted to see what the general consensus was, seems fine to keep 2 together though from what I have been reading

Welcome to the forum!

Keeping a pair together year round is definately not a problem and a 4 foot enclosure is adequate for an adult pair. I kept three in a 4 foot (1200mm) enclosure for 18 months. Even though I wouldn't put 3 shingles (I'd recommend 2 adults as the limit) in an enclosure of that size permanently, they did fine and were very healthy. But of course, going bigger is always better if that is possible.

Thankyou for the reply guys, now I just have to find some, I was 2 days too late at my local reptile store trying to find some frantically before the end of the season down here in Aus now
