New Vivarium

Postby chris2306 » Tue Mar 10, 2015 10:51 am

Hi all,

I have a 5-6 month old BTS which I am currently housing in a 48"x16"x24" wooden viv that I already had.
This is fine for the time being but I am going to get one with more depth for when she grows and I am hoping you wise people can help me choose a viv. (I live in the UK by the way)

The first one I looked at was VivExotic Viva+ large deep thats 3ft, 9" x 2ft, 0" x 1ft, 7" for £133
or
I can pick up a custom made 4ftx2ftx2ft for £80.

So I guess my question is; is the 'fancy' venting system and respectable(?) brand of VivExotic worth the extra cost and smaller space over the other?

Thanks

Depends on what species of BTS you have. If it's any form of gigas I would say go for the bigger viv without the venting, as, on top of wanting the extra space, you'll want to keep a bit more of the heat and all of the humidity from escaping through the vents.

So you may want to go for less venting? Since IJ's are from a very humid area, large vents may not be the most beneficial.

yeah you guys are lucky over in the UK you are able to get those VIVEXOTIC vivariums. you can't get them over here in the US. Its a *darn shame that you can't find terrariums here in the US that actually have some sort of style to them. I actually lucked out and found a guy that makes beautiful acrylic custom terrariums. I have a very modern house and needed a terrarium that was minimal and seemless looking. here is a picture of it.. I love it. I will post the website below in case any of you want to order one. This was 48"X 18" X 14"(high). Here is website: http://www.reptile-enclosure.com/index. ... ommon/home
