BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Sorry in advance I am still getting the hang of this site. I am getting my first BTS on Wednesday and it was unexpected! I am trying to make sure I have everything to make it's transition into my home as stress free as possible so any advice helps. I have never owned one.
What brand of dog food should I buy?
What should I be looking for in the indigence?
What brand/kinds of vitamins should I get? I know i need calcium D3 but there are so many brands!
Do you feed roaches in a dish or let them roam?
Can o' Snails is all that I can find for snails in my area, are those ok to use/any suggestions on where to look for snails?

Any advice on anything is greatly appreciated, I'm trying my best to learn as much as I can before Wednesday!

Dog food brand doesn't matter
Calcium + D3 powder, brand doesn't matter.
I think can of snails sometimes have added salt so make sure there isn't if so they are good to use.

Calcium + D3 powder only look for phosphorous free brands.

I feed mine bugs with a tweezer (I use one made from bamboo and not metal so as not to hurt them if they miss) so they do not get loose in the cage and get lost. I am a bit overprotective, so I also do not like free roaming bugs because when being chased and caught, they may get substrate with it. Feeding dish is fine, but watch him so you know he is eating them and they did not escape. Sometimes they get a bit confused if there is a bunch of bugs in a dish. Another option would be to feed the live prey in a container outside their cage. Mine happen to like Iams dog food, and Beneful chopped blends. That would be up to you, but make sure it is a good quality dog food and not a bargain brand. They are much more forgiving than the average reptile pet so a few newbie errors will not kill them!

Ask the pet store or previous owner what they feed and stick to it as your skink might refuse new foods he's not use to. Try slowly switching or introducing new foods once he is more comfortable with you.

And remember that mantaining proper heat and humidity is just as important as food.
