Help with my BTS mouth
Hello, I am new to this forum and I am worried about my BTS mouth. The scales look almost deflated and just doesn't look normal. Does anyone know what this is or what could be causing it. I think it may be due to humidity. What is the best humidity to keep a BTS? I attached some pics they aren't the best but you can see what I mean. He also crackles when he breathes in and out and it sound like it's coming from his ear holes, like maybe dry scales?

What kind of BTS is it?
How long have you had him? Do you know his age?
What is his history? (origin/breeder, previous owners)
What are his living conditions/husbandry? (tank, substrate, water bowl(s), decor, temperature readings throughout the tank, if/how often you mist the tank, what you feed/how often, how often does he get handled and how does he deal with handling, etc)
Do you know how high/low humidity is?
How long has this been going on?
Has he been seen by a vet?
Some skinks do have a bit of a crackling sound from time to time, but it is absolutely imperative that you have a qualified person determine that the crackling does not involve the lungs, i.e. take him to see a vet. Where you haven't given us any info on the animal, like, you've had him for two years and he's always had the crackling sound, that's the only advice I feel comfortable giving. If you could tell us as much as you can about him and his history, that might help us narrow down where the problem(s) may lay. And we may still advice you to have him looked at by a vet, which we hope wouldn't be a problem for you.
