BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

So sometime in the future i would like to think about maybe breeding some bluies and got a few questions most of them to do with breeding couple that aren't.

1. I have an Eastern atm and i would also love to get a Blotchie but i don't have the room to get 2 Blotchies to breed together, what would happen if you tried to breed a Blotchie and a Eastern, would some babies be normal Easterns and some be normal Blotchies with a chance of some sort of mixed or what exactly?

2. What sized enclosure should they be in to give birth, and then do you keep the babies in that enclosure or do you move it into a bigger enclosure?

3. If i was to keep 2 full sized skinks together what size Enclosure would they need to be a minimum, or would i have to get them both separate and then only put them together to breed?

4. What age is it best to start to get them to breed and to buy the Blotchie at what age when the Eastern is ready to breed.

5. Currently my Eastern is young so i don't want to keep him outside yet but i was wondering when he is older i wouldn't want him to sleep outside so how successful would it be for him to have 2 homes essentially, outside during the day and then i put him inside the night, or would that be to stressful for the little fella, i would also do the same with the Blotchie if/when i get him/her.

6. I was told my Eastern was born on the 7/1/2015 which would make him 46 days old atm, i dont have a scale for him atm but i just measured him and he is currently 15cm from his head to his bum/hind legs are and from his head to tail he is 24cm, i got him on 11/1/2015 and here is a picture of the little guy from that day im just wondering if the size adds up to his age of when i got him to now, i would estimate his length in this image to be 10-11CM head to bum/hind legs and 15/16CM head to tail.


7. I notice a lot of images i see of Eastern adults they look a bit dull and colourless so im wondering if its more likely my little guy will keep his colour or fade over time, heres a picture of his colours taken after he shed on the 2/2/2015.

If u did manage to get a blotch to mate an eastern and babies were produced,no u dont get baby blotchies and baby easterns and a few mixes.the whole litter would be mutts,and really of no benefit to the herp trade

If u have a sunny area outdoors you could make a couple of small outdoor cages or a decent one and let nature take its course outside

Both species aee easy to aquire in aus and quite cheaply to,totally up to you what u do ,but yeah ,much better and probably easier getting rhem to breed to there own type ,i keep easterns with my blotchies outdoors and the easterns breed earlier on average and drop babies earlier as well,occaisionally the timings closer but more commonly there windows dont line up

Ok so in my backyard for spare land i have roughly 110cm x 230cm land plot, i can extend that to roughly 120cm x 310cm, would it be best to split the plot into 3 sections 1 section for each Blotch and then 1 section for the babies? With the blotchies in 120cm x 70-80cm each and then have the babies in a 120cm x 150-170cm plot, or would it be best to have it as just one giant area or what would you do with the 120cm x 310cm plot that would house 2 breeding blotchies and the babies/juvis until they are given away to family/friends or sold?

I house my blotchies together,takes all the guess work out of when to pair them,in the past i raised babies with the adults,but find it better to bring them inside for there first year,babies of blotchies can be raised together quite well,outdoors with a small area like that you will need to make sure they can eacape heat easily to,but also find warmth in cooler wearher,same principals as indoors keeping in regards to offering them choices,outdoors it can fluctuate more extremely though,hence making choices even more important

Oh ok so i just have to build a safe area around that land and make sure the roof are of it is safe aswell, if i was to breed them i don't think i would keep them, it would mainly be to sell them as heartless as that sounds but i would want to breed them so then others can also get awesome pets and to share them not for monetary gain so then im wondering the average litter size indoors how much room would you need to house them for say upto a few months indoors, rough estimates only if your able to do that it is i understand if its to hard to guess because of the unknowns. Them finding shade to escape the heat would be very easy to do but how to give them warmth during the colder times mainly at night.

Oh and how would it be having 1 male and 2 females living together would that be fine seeing as the male wouldn't be fighting over anyone or would the females then fight? thanks for the help by the way i wanted to make sure of what to do and how to do it long before i start to look into getting the blotchies so everything can be set up in my mind and then in real life and tested before they are here.
