Heat Lamp Help

Hey guys i need to get heat lamp for my little blue tongue and im wondering what Wattage i should be looking at for him, the distance between the basking spot/ top of enclosure would be about 40-50cm, thanks for the help.

I am using 60w spot lamps from bunnings at the moment. Mine are about 250mm - 300mm above a garden rock. They cost about $3 they are a Phillips brand.

I use a 100 watt mercury vapor bulb for heat and UVB.

Im wondering if i should get a 100 watt or 150 watt and which of the following is best for me to get for the little guy, the distance between the light and the basking spot would be around 40-50cm, closer to 45cm i reckon, thanks.

At 45cm you would you could do a trial with cheap bunnings spot lights shining onto a fair size flat rock to see which gives you the best heat.

I personally use dollar store bulbs and they get my gradients where i need them to be while saving me $15+ per bulb.

Since its cold here i've been using two 100 watt bulbs for my guy in the 40 gallon breeder which is about the same height as you indicated. It gets a little too hot at times, so sometimes ill turn one off and only have one going. Once it gets nicer out I for sure wont need 2, I may even need to step down to a 75 watt

Something like this. Don't forget if your blue can reach the lamp it has to have a cage around it.
