Rubbing face against the glass.

I've noticed that my BTS will sometimes walk up and down beside the glass of her enclosure and will rub her face and nose all over the glass. Does anyone know why she might do this? I had her out for over an hour yesterday and as soon as I put her back in her enclosure, she started scratching at the glass and then stopped to do the face rubbing. The face rubbing often lasts more than a minute. I was just wondering what this behaviour could mean.

A lot of lizards do this, as do snakes and other captives that do not understand the concept of glass. They can see through it but not walk through it, and they simply do not understand this. Had a monitor that would do it all day long. My BTs sometimes do it when I first return them to their enclosure until they settle down again in a few minutes. Not abnormal behavior for some reptiles, but if he does it constantly I would consider it abnormal for a BT. They usually calm down quickly unless they are completely unhappy in their surroundings, which does not sound likely.

That makes sense. Thanks for your input. She doesn't do it all the time, just occasionally. It especially happens when I put her back in her enclosure and she'll stop after a few minutes.

Mine too. Probably enjoys being out and has to re-adjust for a bit when she goes back. I like to think that, anyway!
