My merauke, Calcifer, just went into shed yesterday. Since the dry Washington winter air hasn't been too good to him, I upped the humidity in his tank a bit a couple of minutes ago, and right afterwards he sat there for a moment breathing with his mouth open. It kind of looked like he was about to yawn, but he didn't. This only lasted for a short time before he went on rubbing against his log, breathing normally.
Is that something I should be very concerned about? Or just a sign I should ease up on the humidity? Last I checked it was 60%.
(For that matter, I've seen some really varied information about humidity for meraukes; where should it be at?)

60% is good. When you up the humidity, are toy spraying heavily in the enclosure?

I usually lightly mist his substrate with a garden spray mister, until the decorations/hides are sort of sparkly? I also have some sphagnum moss that I put in there for his sheds.
The humidity did jump pretty quickly though, so maybe I did spray too much?

The cool side is 80°F, warm side 98°F, and 101°F right under the basking spot.

That is exactly what I do. I don't see any huge concern. Maybe it had just got done drinking and slurped it down the wrong hole.

Maybe. So far as I can tell he hasn't done it again, so I guess I'll just keep an eye on him for a while.
