I forgot to post here, whoops. Well, apparently I'm turning my school into skink lovers. :D Maxx and Riley went to one of my "friends" for the winter break, and didn't come back until Thursday, and through all of last week, everyone was asking where the skinks have gone! And that they were missing them. It is wonderful seeing all the people realizing how awesome these guys are. But anyways. Dr. Youngs had an empty 7' x 2' x 2.5' cage in her class. It has been empty for YEARS. I asked her if she'd want to have another skink, and she said she'd love to add one! So, I set everything up. The bottom layer is 50% cypress mixed with 50% top soil. Then the middle layer is 100% top soil. Then the top layer is a whole lotta sphagnum moss. :) I also put a dead palm frond, palm log, and some pieces of bark throughout the cage. It is a little brown for my taste, so I'm going to go to Michael's (soon) to get some large, fake ferns to "green it up". :) But here it is:

I'm soooo happy to have her back. And we are moving out hopefully this month too!! I have to house my skinks outside in a greenhouse, though. So, I'm going to buy the cheapest, suckiest greenhouse available, since too much heat will be a problem in South Florida. I'm very excited. After I test the temperatures, I am going to have them all sent to me besides Xaunder, since she is potentially gravid over at Diana's.

And thanks again, Susann!!

Hated school from kindergarten on....that sure would have changed had I been in a classroom like that! My only reptile encounter in school was my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Hermann, who was enchanted by my love of the creepy-crawly and allowed me to take home a baby caiman (yup, they were legal to own in 1965!!) over the Easter break. She arranged it with the science director and much to the dismay of my mother, it got to come home for a bit. Kudos to you on what you are doing, I love when young ones are taught to love and respect members of the reptile kingdom.

Yeah, it is great to have a reptile loving teacher. I don't even have her as a teacher, and I'm in her class 2 times a day. With Virginia being so large, most people do not know how to hold her, so I'm going to print a little guide off for them and tape it to the tank. :P
