dark heavy speck kunnanurra dropping

Went to check on the expecting northerns,and spyed a slug in dark kunnanurra lasses cage,and on closer inspection found her spitting out another,she then devoured them then spat out a 3rd slug,,which was quickly devoured as well,if u dont witness them dropping slugs its easy to miss actuallu seeing that they have dropped any

This lass had at least 2 babies and 4 slugs last season,i walked in on her eating a baby and found another babies tail,then watched her drop 4 slugs,hopefully not going to be all slugs

Hope she drops something fertile this time. Expectations are high to see what she produces.

Eatched her pushing and again a slug,number 4 but straight after the slug with same pushing out popped a bub,its very small and i had to help it escape birth membrane,seems very week and has no interest in eating birth sac yet so not sure how its going to go,but will do all i can,the girls raking a breather ,though with legs still elevated.hopefully no more of those wreched slugs,lol

On the right of pic is the birth sack which it has not a great deal of interest in eating,i popped the lol tyke in a cage with heat and left it for a bit,on going back i decided to put birth sack near it to see if it was interested and it went into defense node and actually snapped at me,a little more promising,i used that to advantage hoping if it bit birth sack it would continue eating but nope,so i grabbed a little bit of dogfood and it bit then ate some of that

Still not sure how irs going to go as its a bit unco,rolls over easy if on uneven sections of cage but moves around not to badly,the female had a couple more half hearted pushes then went and buried herself in the mulch for the night,check thismorning and vant see any further evidence,though she may very well have eaten it,she still looks rotundish and breathing funny so may possably still be more to come or in fact be done

The other big kunnanurra lass has recently shed and is looking ominously close to,like the dark girl they have both gone off there tucker of late,but not always a great sign as some of mine eat like mad right through

I eas starting to see and odd pattern over previous years with these guys with babies coming earlier each year,but this year its all over the place,lol,first litter was back in earlu oct,which is earliest for me,previos best being bang on mid november

Whilst in essence that litter has followed suit,next litter was early november,and 3rd on 1st of dec,wirh one definate at least yet to come,a 2 month long window for babies is new for me,usually they are all with in a week or two

Joys of reptile keeping,just when u figure u have half sussed them they go and change things on you,lol

She hasnt really dropped much weight yet,mind u she ate the slugs between spitting out the next ones,see ehat happens i guess,good news today on checking on little tyke that was hiding under the paper,it straight away did an open mouth tongue display ,then turned and ran off,leaving me a little more posative it may be ok,over all size its tiny compared to the last 2 litters,and its tail is so skinny,even compared to the tails from her litter last year when she ate the babies

Im thinking so scott,shes still acting a little odd but no pushing ,the lil tyke i think will be fine to,moving around pretty good,not uncordinated any more,can actually lay the bolt just as well as any other baby now and its one fiesty lil bugger,tries to swing around and bite me if hand goes in cage

So on posative its an improvement from last season,maybe a bit more bulk and size for next season will help

Scott when she dropped slug and bub she turned and was heading to them with intent,i quickly grabbed baby and almost got bitten in process,and she quickly snaffled the slig,so every chance if i didnt intervene she would have munched bub to,especially because it just sat there encased still,i eventuallu had to break it free,i could see it looking out of birth membrane and it appeared to be gasping a little,but made no attempts to free it self,even after grtting it out it just sat there for ages breathing,i removed its birth sac as it was showing no interest in eating it,i had it propped on top of juvie king skink cage ,and even those were out looking up and trying to get to the bluey

Thankfully dogfood sparked its interest and is looking much better now

Good to see he/she is coming along. I like when they are a bit feisty. My male kununurra is like that. Still likes to try and take a piece out of you. Teaches you to respect them.
