western bluetongue sperm plug dropping sequence

Often we get is this sperm plugs questions,so thought id show a sequence of pics of my male western bluey dropping some sperm plug,first he pooped,when poop was cleared he everted hemipenes which expose sperm plugs,as he retrated penes the chunky section of plug grabs substrate or what ever it touches,then as he keeps moving and penes are retrated a pr of aperm plugs are left behind,this is jow i mostlu see them dropped,usually they are clear of excretement,though sometimes theu also drop plugs with no excretement

Funnily enough the western prs cage mate,a uoung new england cunningham skink i had to seperate from group due to it getting bullied also dropped sperm plugs in exact same manner 5 mins before the western,though he decided to drop his deuce in empty watwr bowl and left plugs on lip of bowl

Thanks for the information and pics. They are a lot smaller then I thought. So does the hemipenes always come out when the drop a plug? Is there always two? How often do they drop plugs?

From what ive seen yeah generally penes pop out every time,i mostly see sperm plugs around the time of mating season,in the lead up to it and for a little while after,thats when they drop them frequently,often with mu northerns when i pair them,the males are sometimes not overly interested,eventually drop sperm plugs and with in a few minutes are dead keen,like they had to clear plugs first

I havnt overly noticed plug dropping at other times of the year but they probably still do,maybe not as consistently,perhaps others could chime in there
