stuck shed on tail
Jaxom started shedding about a week ago, but there is still some shed on his tail. I haven't been able to pick him up yet, but I am working on building his trust, which is going well. As far as I can tell, there is no stuck shed on his toes, and his ears look clean. It's just on the top of his tail. What do I do?

You can try picking him up and putting him in a shallow container with lukewarm water, to help loosen the stuck shed. Just don't be rough or forceful, obviously. I find that a bit of water helps shed to slide right off.

I just gave him a bath. I picked him up for the first time. I had to chase him around for a bit to pick him up, but I did it. He didn't seem to like the bath, and was trying to get out, then took the biggest poop ever. I can't even imagine how that much poop was inside of him. I think I got most of the shed off, but I feel bad because I literally scared the poop out of him. Lol it was pretty gross.

a few light swipes with a moist q-tip can help a lot. just don't apply much pressure. my skink did not tolerate touching his tail or back legs when he was younger, now he doesn't mind you touching his tail so much, the back legs he still doesn't care for. if it comes off then great. if not, you can use a shallow bath, or apply some olive oil or mineral oil and leave it for a day or two and try again. don't waste money on those shed-aid products from the pet store, olive oil/mineral oil or even just water work just as well and are much cheaper.
also, if it's not the tail tip, then it's not as much to worry about. it will come off sooner or later, but it's the tip where you have to worry about it constricting and losing the tip of the tail.
