BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I know i am sure every new owner asks about this and i have scrounged about other forum posts on here about it. I am still unsure - mainly due to my new owner status - and would kinda like some input!

What age do blueys start brumation?

My baby northerner sleeps A LOT but he is also a baby. If i dont have him out he is hiding. Only one or twice has he sat on his rock to bask. He had one day where he was really active and watching me from the tank and out and about but other than that hes hiding or sleeping on me. Almost more active when i first got him than now!

Hes been eating just fine (more than fine!) and as far as i know drinking water. Is he just being a lazy baby or is brumation something i should be concerned about??

But in short,yes all blueys will brumate,including babies,but most people try to keep them active over there first winter,some even with older ones

The behaviour of yours doesnt sound like brumation,more like new babu skink syndrome,timid little buggers can often spend alot of time hiding if your about
If u live in a coldish climate and keep tropical reptiles,if night temps drop pretty low that can stimulate them into thinking its time to brumate,its hot during the dau year round for a few species,cooler nights and cooler ambients is often all that they need to slow down weather you like it or not
