My breeding ambitions for the next year.

I'd like to know what your upcoming breeding plans are - what are you aiming for?

For me.

This is a guy that I'm hoping to breed from this year with my girls. He was one, out of the box so to speak from 2 years ago so hoping he might be up to the task this year.

For some of my girls, he will be an F1, so a related cross, but not for my others. Hoping to get some cracking babies. Fingers crossed. To be honest, this sort of thing is one of the reasons I go to this trouble of breeding etc. it costs me money - not a money making venture.

This is actually his drab phase, hasn't woken from brumation yet, just pulled him out for some photos. Waiting for him to shed and show his spring colours - yes Alpine blotchies tend to change colour a bit through the year.

It's a toss up between that blotchy and acanthurus' goldfields shingles as to the best looking Tiliqua in captivity.

he looks like a ripper scott,i can imagine his color changing over a season to be quite intense,lots of color in him already

couple of other blotchies im hoping to finally get litters from and one which still alludes me as to its sex,i always lean female but after many years starting to think it maybe a male,nsw alpine,which i may try over my young bright yellow bluemountains female

ive recently brought her brother and 2 a year older bluemountains females indoors,males have just shed so see what happens,all the rest are still brumating so still a ways off for them

Beautiful blotchie Scott. Good luck with him. I'm hoping to get blotched, shingles, easterns, and a pile of northerns next season. I have my fingers crossed that next year will be WAY better than this year. Part of the fun is never knowing what you're going to get tbough.

thanks mate,im thinking its a he so far to,will be interesting if he keeps fading as he grows,he started off looking like a typical northern baby,but the 4 i hung on to quickly took on the kimberley appearence,this one though has kept getting paler,when weather warms up they should start putting on some good growth,they have barely touched food since late april even with a hot basking site they have been shut down up the cool end

not long now,a few of the outdoor blotchies are out having a bask today,its only 14 odd ,overnight low wasnt far off zero though which is probably why they came out,lol

spot on jeff,thays one of the things that excites me,not always knowing what to expect,and the hoping for certain things to work out,im hoping for a bit better season this year as well,but if it happens it happens,if not theres always next year


scott i think i remember your excitement with that blotchie when it was a baby,he has turned out really nice,hopefully he can pass some of that off with your females,which are really nice animals in there own right,the ones i git from you still mesmerise me every time i look at them

Yeh Richard, probably 50% orange, including the head and tail, most loose those tones as they age but not this one. It is from the daughter of Colin Hamilton's famous orange female. By doing some selective back crosses, the babies should be amazing.

Here are a few of my next year and probably the following year northerns I hope to breed. I was really lucky to pick up some really incredible northerns from some really awesome lines this year that Im super excited to start working with. My hope is to help continue the lines so many folks have been working so hard on over the years to keep pure and known. Anyway, just wanted to share

Oh my GOD, Diana, that last baby. :O Those diamond markings...and it's almost a -red- hue. That is a gorgeous skink. All of them are! You're going to be producing some seriously stunning blueys!
