Re: Dog Food or Cat Food....
Feeding either one is more of a personal preference. I've read on here where experienced keepers feed the cheapest food and found their animals have thrived well. Others want to feed the healthiest food possible and avoid processed foods altogether. I have fed both. In fact, I am feeding a combination of wet cat food with dry dog food kibble and my skink laps it. Today, I provided a couple red raspberries.
My suggestion is to compare the ingredients in the can versus the list of edible foods found here on the forums. For me, I avoid anything with spinach. Since reptiles can have problems with calcium deficiencies, anything which inhibits the absorption of calcium (spinach) does not make it to my skink.
And yes, 24 cans will last a very LONG time. Especially once your little one gets older and the feeding schedule slows down. It may be more beneficial to just pick up a can or two at the grocery store. The stuff is usually really cheap anyways.

Re: Dog Food or Cat Food....
The main difference is that some dog food will contain veggies, while cat food never does. Try avoiding grains/other fillers; I usually just buy cheap brands that have some sort of meat as the first ingredient.
