Update on Fay from Stacey Micheals

Postby DianaBlueTongue » Thu Jul 24, 2014 12:25 pm

I know I post a ton of pics and I apologize if it's getting annoying, I honestly have two hobbies in life I enjoy more then anything else. My reptiles and photography. lol. The two just seem to go hand in hand like peas and carrots. lol. :P

Anyway, my little Fay from Stacey Micheals is getting so big. She's just over 2 months old now and has doubled in size since arriving here. She's also gone through a HUGE color and pattern change and I swear every shed just gets more and more orange. Every time she sheds it feels like Christmas morning when I was a kid and I love love how much she's turning out like her gorgeous mom, Ember.

I also can't even begin to explain how amazing her little personality is. For such a young lizard she is amazingly calm and tolerant of handling. Whenever I come near her cage she always comes out and looks towards the top of her cage to see whats going on. Barely ever a huff or puff leaves her little lips and I can already tell she's gonna have a special place in my heart for many years to come. I know her calmness has a lot to do with the great attention and care Stacey gives the babies she produces before they leave for their new homes and I thank her (you) for that soo much! It's made it soo much easier and so much more enjoyable to get to know little Fay.

Anyway, that's it, just wanted to share :)

12"? Gosh, Northerns always look so big when they are babies. I would have bet this thing was at least 18". Guess I'm just used to the smaller-bodied gigas.

Good looking skink! I still prefer the black bands of the more common Northerns, though. I do wish the patterns would extend through the tail instead of turning into earth-tone camouflage. Oh well. :)

EDIT: huh, the OP's skinks pattern does extend through the tail. Mine doesn't. It just stops at the base and turns into a mess of earth-tones.

Thanks guys! Stacey Micheals really has something awesome going on with her adult northerns, all the babes she produced this year were just gorgeous :)

jdheff1982 - I actually usually like the really high black northerns better too but just couldn't help myself picking up a couple really light ones this year. I think Fay's tail will eventually look more like yours though with some of the orange hanging around, she's only 2 months old so still has mostly a juvies coloration and pattern. If you go to Stacey Micheals website and check out Fays momma Ember, I have a good feeling my little Fay will look just like her as an adult, fingers crossed for that! Ember is just gorgeous!

JoshChimera - Nope, she's not a caramel, just a really light colored normal northern. The caramels are actually a line bred line developed by James Wilson and I think Ray Gurgui has his own line bred version now too

I am so jealous! Post more pictures! Ember is honestly one of my favorite Northerns around here and I would love one of her babies some day. No regrets about getting baby Indigo from Susann but some day...

Her colors are great looking for a normal Northern.

The tail pattern is more defined in babies, but it becomes more of a mess as they age.

WOW. 8O

That is a seriously gorgeous skink! I don't think I'm familiar with Stacey; does she have a website, or just sells through the forum? I definitely want to keep an eye out!

I know I wouldn't mind having a female from Stacey to breed with my male. I bet the babies would look awesome! Too bad I don't have the means to accommodate such a project :(
