Tank set-up (Semi complete)

Postby AquaaAllure » Sat Jun 28, 2014 4:38 pm

I just want to know if the tank set-up is good so far since I will be getting my first skink next week! Cloud~
I am missing the light dome fixture, the hide for the hot side, and just a few decorations.
Also, is that water dish good? It just looks too deep for a baby to climb up and in..

I'm planning to put the substrate next weekend.

The water dish should be fine, but if you have doubts put a rock in it so that he can climb out. I would definitely take the aspen out of the bag, and the Tom's are not necessary. Skinks don't need shoes.

do you know what subspecies you're getting? Northern/Merauke?

Water bowl looks good to me, but as jeff said, put something in there so you're comfortable.

Haha funny, but I just do not like the emptiness in the background so I had to put something. Why will that be like scary for Cloud?
I am getting a Northern but I bought some moss too just to put some around, whoops forgot to take a picture of that. It's the Zoo Med Terrarium Moss.

Oh! The bear is there just to represent where the basking light will be.

Once you get everything, I'd recommend going ahead and setting up everything that will be in the tank when the bluey arrives (even water in the bowl). That way you can test the temp gradient and make sure it is correct before the skink gets there. If you want a background for the tank, maybe tape some construction paper to the back? Good luck!
