Blotchie breeders in the USA?

Postby Heracles » Mon May 19, 2014 7:53 pm

So I'm brand spanking new to blueys and so far, I really like blotchies(thought there's no guarantee I can get one, its not up to me, but with any luck....). I was just wondering if there are any blotchie breeders on the forum, if they could provide pictures of the parents? So far I can't find any pictures of lowland blotchies(every one on the site I've seen has appeared as one of those blue question marks) But I really like the blue/grey ones. I also like northerners and meruakes, but blotchies only please. I didn't put this in the classifieds because this is just an inquiry, theres no definite that I can buy anything.

You could also post any pictures of blotchies that you enjoy :D any opportunity to catch sight of these beauties is an opportunity that should be taken.

There's about two blotchie breeders in the US and they're pretty rare I would guess that around ten people actually have any. So unfortunately unless you have good connections and a couple thousand dollars, you probable won't get any blotchies.

that's crazy :(
For such a beautiful breed, its really unfortunate that they're so rare. The website said that they used to be common until they fell outta style. Whelp, I guess I had better make a different choice then.

If you have the money (probably around $1000-1500 each) and the time to wait around for a little bit, they're not unattainable if you really want them. The most available captive bred BTS are Northerns. Easterns, Meraukes, and Irian Jayas are bred in limited numbers, but most Meraukes and IJs are imported. Indonesians and Keis are virtually all imported. Shinglebacks, Centralians, and Westerns are very hard to come across.

Both breeders have great looking and reasonably priced Northerns if you're interested.

Well maybe if I worked two summers and really saved my money I could get one. They're just so resplendent. But it'd be hard. gaahh now I'm torn. Maybe I'll just get a northern.

Two comments:

1) Interesting that no one mentioned the most consistent Blotchie breeder in the US, KL.
2) They're worth every penny.

My mother, after keeping my hopes up for around a month, just told me bluntly that she won't allow me to get one because she doesn't want to take care of it in college, to which I promptly responded that I would take it to college, and she said "What if they don't allow pets? No skink. I'm pretty crushed. But hey, I'll see you all in 5 years when I can get one for myself
