BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I am going to be getting a new BTS at the up coming reptile expo in San Diego, if there are any there. Any way I want to know what you guys thought would be the best substrate. I can't use any type of wood shavings because I am allergic to them. Plus is the humidity requirements for a baby the same as an adult? Any other baby BTS care tips? Thank you!

Depending on the species you get, humidity requirements will vary, but they will not be any different for babies and adults. I would typically recommend aspen or cypress mulch depending on humidity requiremends, but those are both out of the question. Can you use coconut fiber/husk based substrates? There are many suitable coconut substrates. Some people also keep their BTS on rabbit pellets. In my experience, coconut substrate (Eco-Earth) has not held humidity very well, and rabbit pellets probably shouldn't be sprayed down too much (mold). Therefore, you may need a hide with damp sphagnum moss inside to give your skink a humid option. Keep in mind if you get a Northern that this may not be necessary.
